The third edition of Cannonau Likeness International ended on November 4 at Sa Manifattura in Cagliari, confirming its status as one of the most influential events dedicated to Sardinia’s iconic grape variety and its prospects on the Italian and international markets. The format, conceived by Davide Gangi and promoted by Vinoway Italia, was once again organized this year without any financial outlay required from Sardinian wineries, confirming a concrete commitment to the region.
The event, which was completely free of charge upon registration, attracted an extraordinary turnout: sold-out masterclasses, packed rooms, and constant interest from industry professionals, winemakers, producers, communicators, and enthusiasts.
The event at Sa Manifattura also marked the final stage of the “Cannonau – Il Vino Giovane” (Cannonau – The Young Wine) project, an analysis and relaunch initiative aimed at understanding how Cannonau can connect with new generations and become more competitive on national and international markets.

The project was promoted thanks to the valuable patronage of Sardegna Ricerche and conceived by Davide Gangi, Mariano Murru, and Vincenzo Russo, in collaboration with IULM Milano, Stevie Kim, and Assoenologi Sardegna. It was a multidisciplinary project lasting about a year, combining expertise in marketing, neuromarketing, oenology, and communication, with the aim of providing a realistic picture of perceptions of Cannonau and defining more modern and effective positioning strategies.

Cannonau Likeness International was therefore the natural moment of synthesis, public discussion, and presentation of an innovative process that involved professionals, young consumers, and numerous players in the sector.
The day began with an in-depth discussion involving professionals, journalists, oenologists, scholars, and representatives of the region, as well as two international guests from Spain, Carmen Gracìa and Juan Domenech. Key themes for the future of Sardinian wine were outlined, including: the positioning of Cannonau in Italy, the opportunities and challenges in promoting it abroad, the role of young consumers and new market dynamics, the most effective communication strategies for consolidating the image of the grape variety, and the anthropological, territorial, and identity value of Cannonau in the Mediterranean context.

The large audience turnout was also confirmed in the three technical masterclasses, all sold out and free of charge, dedicated to:
1. “The Nuances of Cannonau”

2. “Ogliastra – Land of Centenarians and Cannonau”

3. “Spanish Garnacha between Aragon and Catalonia”

The success of the event was made possible thanks to the support of the sponsors, with special thanks to the main sponsor Sugherificio Molinas. Heartfelt thanks also go to all the sponsors who supported the initiative, contributing to its realization at no cost to the Sardinian wineries: Enartis, Enò, Gortani, Lavorazione Legnami, Seguin Moreau, Tholos, Marchinu, BaoBab, and Rastal.
Important work was carried out by Mariano Murru (President of Assoenologi Sardegna), Angelo Concas (President of Epulae) and the Vinoway team.
Davide Gangi said:“We are very happy with the success of the third edition of Cannonau Likeness International. I would like to thank the other organizers, Mariano Murru and Angelo Concas, for contributing to the value and success of the event. The Vinoway team worked tirelessly and professionally to ensure that this edition was also a resounding success. However, we are thinking of taking a break for a while after this edition. We want to reflect on the fact that events cannot be organized solely for specific purposes, but that there must be strong and widespread collaboration from the entire territory in order for them to grow and continue. This is an honest and accurate reflection. Our passion remains, but not everything can be taken for granted.”
Cannonau Likeness International 2025 closes with excellent results and a strong vision for the future. Cannonau emerges as part of Sardinia’s heritage, capable of appealing to young people and international markets when supported by research, collaboration, and a shared strategic vision.
