Alberto Longo: when a passion becomes a way of life, a business, and part of the local identity

In the heart of Daunia, in Lucera, in northern Puglia, the Alberto Longo wine project is taking shape. A company that was not born from a tradition handed down automatically, but from a conscious lifestyle choice, guided by authentic passion, respect for the land, and an entrepreneurial vision based on solid values.
The winery is located near the historic Masseria Celentano, within a unified agricultural context that reflects the true Apulia, made up of hard work, patience, and identity. Here, Alberto Longo has decided to invest his time, energy, and vision, believing in a territory that is often less celebrated but extraordinarily suited to wine production.
Alberto Longo is the owner and founder of the company. He comes from a different professional background, far removed from the world of wine. His entry into the sector is not the result of automatism, but of a deep passion that has matured over time, transformed with method and seriousness into a structured and credible agricultural project.
The history of the company has its roots in the agricultural experience of the Longo family, who have been cultivating vineyards and olive groves since the 1960s in the countryside of Daunia, between Lucera and Pietramontecorvino. Alberto’s parents were not protagonists of the wine world in the media sense, but authentic farmers, linked to the land by a daily, concrete, and respectful relationship.
It is in this context that Alberto grew up, learning from a young age the value of agricultural work, patience, and respect for natural cycles. A legacy made up more of silent teachings than words, which is clearly reflected in the company’s philosophy today.
The winery is located in Lucera, one of the most important historical centers of the Capitanata region. The terroir offers ideal soil and climate conditions: balanced altitudes, constant ventilation, temperature variations, and complex soils. The company operates between the production site and the land immediately adjacent to Masseria Celentano, within the Cacc’e Mmitte di Lucera DOC district.
Masseria Celentano is not just a hospitality facility, but an integral part of the Alberto Longo project. It is the place where wine meets agricultural memory, hospitality, and the story of the territory. Here, wine becomes experience, relationship, and knowledge.
The work in the vineyard is guided by attention, sustainability, and respect for natural rhythms. Native grape varieties, particularly Nero di Troia, find one of their most authentic expressions in Lucera.

The CACC’ E MITT wine, a direct expression of Lucera’s DOC Cacc’e Mmitte, represents the manifesto of the project. An authentic, consistent wine with a strong identity, which does not seek to impress but rather to convey the truth of the place where it is produced.
The Alberto Longo project is also an expression of concrete social responsibility. Alberto Longo is a discreet philanthropist who has chosen to transform values into real actions: offering work to a foreigner in difficulty and even transferring the entire family to the company, guaranteeing stability, dignity, and a future.
It is no coincidence that the Alberto Longo company is one of the virtuous businesses selected in the Vinoway Selection guide and app, a reference point for enthusiasts, operators, and professionals in the sector with the wines Cacc’e Mmitte di Lucera 2023 – 5 Way Stella, Donnadele Rosato IGP Puglia 2024 – 5 Way, Le Cruste 2022 IGP Puglia 2022 – 4 Way e Le Fossette IGP Puglia 2024 – 3 Way
The Vinoway Selection app is available for free download and includes only companies that meet strict evaluation criteria.
I have known Alberto Longo for many years, and this allows me to say that his project stems first and foremost from a true passion. We share not only a love for wine and the land, but also for true and beautiful music. Alberto is an extraordinary pianist, much better than me, and this sensitivity is clearly reflected in his wines.

The Alberto Longo project was not created to impress, but to last. It was born out of respect for the land, the silent legacy of his parents, a passion that became a way of life, and a business philosophy that puts people before products.
Because when wine is born from an authentic choice, it always tells a story that goes far beyond what is in the glass.
