Ferruccio Deiana: continuity and evolution in Parteolla

A few years ago, I visited the Ferruccio Deiana winery in Su Leunaxi, in the municipality of Settimo San Pietro, in the province of Cagliari. I remember that visit well, not only because of the impressive agricultural organization that characterizes the company, but also because of the familiar and professional atmosphere that permeated the vineyards and winery.
On that occasion, I met Ferruccio, the company’s founder, and observed closely the path already embarked upon by his son Dario, now an oenologist and a central figure in the technical and strategic management of the company.
The company bears the name of Ferruccio Deiana. But its evolution is also the result of Dario’s work. We are talking about a business that can count on 100 hectares of vineyards, cultivated using the Guyot and spurred cordon methods. This is a significant area for southern Sardinia, requiring organization, method, and long-term vision.
Each vineyard has its own identity: different soils, different exposures, microclimates that change even a few meters apart. Agronomic care is calibrated plot by plot, with the aim of preserving balance and quality.
Dario’s journey did not begin with a formal entry into the company. It was a gradual process, built up in the field. As a winemaker, he internalized the production logic of Sardinia: a Mediterranean territory that demands rigor, control of ripening, and attention to freshness.
This approach is evident in the wines. There is no search for effect or excess, but rather a skilled hand capable of managing structure and drinkability, preserving the identity of the territory.
Ferruccio Deiana built the company with determination, investing in the Parteolla area and promoting distinctive varieties such as Vermentino and Cannonau. Dario consolidated this trajectory, taking on technical and entrepreneurial responsibilities.
